Worthless Religion

Talkative people have a deep need to be heard. Its a defense mechanism that is fearful of appearing ignorant before people, that they know little. They have no one who would listen to them, so they would rather talk than listen. An unlearned person who checks his mouth is wiser than the educated babbler.  And so without thinking they talk, to appear wiser than they truly are. Thus, many well meaning Christians who have this 'talent' have both wounded others, and have been ruined by this. One time a woman told Spurgeon, 'My talent is to speak my mind,' to which he replied, 'Woman, God wouldn't care one bit if you would bury that talent.'

Hence the conclusion of this short matter: her religion is worthless, who does not bridle her mouth.

James 1:26  If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

Proverbs 18:2  A fool takes no pleasure in understanding but only in disclosing what is on his mind.

Proverbs 29:20  Do you see someone who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Ecclesiastes 5:3  .. a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.
