We Are Not Of This World

Image
In the gospel of John chapter 8 verse 23, when Jesus replied, “You people are from below; I am from above. You people are from this world; I am not from this world." The Lord is expressing a sense of belonging that surpasses everything we have or will ever experience on this side of eternity. Christ is from above, and so are we, God's children. To read His words, "but I have chosen you from the world, that is why the world hates you," shows how incomparably special believers are in the eyes of the Lord. God the Father offers the entirety of who He is, in the person of the most valuable treasure in heaven - the Messiah, Christ Jesus.

Spurgeon Set

What more can be said? Except that God is more than gracious in providing the means for His work. When he gives, He calls. When He calls, He gives. This is a welcome addition to the already growing library which has now overgrown the custom shelves I built, making me consider building a second library.

Exhortation For Brethren

Image
An exhortation to undertake the impossible task of understanding the love of God for us, His redemption, and the power that His life gives.    May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward for His suffering.

He Is Able To Sympathize With Our Weakness

The Neglect of The Third Person

Image
I was in my teen years when long-distance phone calls were an exciting thing. I can still remember the sound of the operator asking if we wished to receive the call. When I was already working there was also a communication  loophole that circulated that enabled you to use the presidential hotline to make calls to anywhere in the world unlimited for free. And sometime after that I imagined that in the near future we wouldn't be just talking to people and  hearing them, but also seeing them at the same time. Way before pagers came into existence.  Virtual meetings became the necessary norm since last year. Communications have come a long way since, and I believe God has ordained this in a way to 'speed things up'. Taking advantage of the skills that has been entrusted to me in the field of visual media, the LORD gained for Himself souls this way, whom He has led to me, and thus enabled me to watch over and care for. Our small daily bible class has grown in the short three ...

The Rock of Offense

Image
The sad reality of modern day Christianity is that it has been reduced to a mere concept of being good. Doctrine and correct theology is indeed essential to differentiate what is true from what is false. But theology and doctrine was never ordained to bring down God's power upon the church. The first commandment is not 'Thou shalt love doctrine and theology' , but this seems to have become the mantra for modern day Christianity.  Ask any group of young church goers to play games or music and they will happily indulge you. But rarely, if not never, will you find young people asking, nay, begging to pray instead. There is no brooding of the things of the Holy Ghost, no brokenness, no discontentment for not being able to take a hold on God. Am I being too harsh? Have you never heard of the little 7 and 8 year old children of Herrnhut, Germany who travailed and agonized in prayer? Your objection reveals your ignorance. An old puritan preacher was correct when he said, "man...

The Mercy Of God

Excerpts from an exhortation to the blessed saints of Batia, Bulacan on Matthew 22:1-14

Who Is Christ To You?

Image
I love speaking to young people. I have a great desire to shield and protect them from the corruption that seeks to influence them. As I was tasked to deliver a message to the youth gathering the nest day Saturday, I spent the whole night before the LORD on the floor pleading for His grace and anointing  until morning, and even up to the time I stepped unto church in the afternoon, I received no word. But God never fails to deliver for His name's sake, and His servants' rejoicing.   This short excerpt is taken from that privilege speech I was honored to give to the youth in our community after watching Tortured For Christ , the movie. Take thy glory, LORD.

A Call to Prayer

Image
The story of Moses spending six days waiting on the LORD before finally being granted an audience with the LORD astounds me to no end. Daniel also spent 21 days waiting on his face before God. I wondered what would have happened had he given up on the 20th day? I believe he would have gone on longer until the answer came. I am grieved to my heart that I cannot understand such intimacy and muster a yearning that rivals such. That I find it so difficult to pray without the flesh clawing immediately at me seconds in to my pleading. How many believers today still cry, 'LORD, teach us to pray"? It is vital to ask if any still realize how sinful prayerlessness is. I am pulled between staying in secret prayer and seeking the kingdom's furtherance in the world, but I set myself painfully to strive for both. I would not want to regret on my deathbed, that I should have prayed more in the days of my health. Dear LORD, If thou were to grant me one thing of what remains of...

Between Obedience and Grief

Image
But the LORD.. Jonah 1:4 What great comfort this portion of scripture brings. It conveys the very meaning of all things that happen in the lives of God's beloved children. God takes great delight in giving His children good things. But many people will settle for less: less pain, less trouble, less waiting, less grieving. In doing so, they miss out on the very source of endless bounty and joy. Christ is Himself the greatest reward for those who ask for the best that God can give. The experience of pain spares no one. For both the religionists and godless, when all else is taken away, troubles tend to justify their rebellion, the evidence of an already hardened heart. It drives them further away from the only help they so desperately seek. Ready to blame anyone and everything, except themselves. For the true child of God, however, they see His hand in every facet of their lives, hardships become opportunities for maturity, and troubles drive them further into the loving ar...

The Only Thing Greater Than Prayer

Image
God made men for his worship. Yet it is the one thing we know very little of.  We waddle neck deep into so many things for the sake of the kingdom and neglect this one vital privilege by reserving it to a miserable 30 minutes of singing, music and clapping. We are so far from our roots and know nothing of our primary call. I can be many things for God in my own understanding thinking I must do all I can, but if my life is not one of worship, everything is an effort in futility.

The Jealous Son of Luke 15:28 - 29

A exposition on the story of the prodigal son, centering on the tender mercies of the father, and the jealousy of the elder brother. I come across many gems of truths while studying these stories, where the spaces between the letters contain all the precious parts. I myself learn much. Yet for lack of supervised training, I do not know whether I am doing it properly. Nonetheless, may the Lord alone be glorified.

Jonah And The Secret Christian - Part 3

Image
The last of this short three part series on the first chapter of Jonah, verses 8 to 16. We cannot even  exhaust the wisdom of the Lord as I am sure this chapter can be studied from more angles than I can imagine. May the Lord Jesus Christ be lifted up, for the glory of God, and the edification of the saints.

Jonah And The Sovereignty Of God - Parts 1 & 2

Image
The book of Jonah is a superb and tremendous study on the sovereignty of God. This is part 1 on a series of studies on the life of Jonah, Chapter 1 from verses 1 to 3, and how it contrasts with modern Christianity. Delivered to the saints in Batia, Bulacan on the 30th of September, 2018. The sermons are in the Tagalog language.   This is part 2. Jonah chapter 1, verses 4 to 7. Delivered on the following week. On the 7th of October, 2018. Too many things to say here but everything had to be compressed to the allotted time. It would be proper to do an extensive series on this. Be blessed.

The Marks Of Christ's Authenticity

A study on the authenticity of three specific miracles that Christ did to authenticate his claim as being the Messiah who was promised to come. Delivered to the saints at Batia, Bulacan on the 15th of August, 2018. The audio is in the Tagalog language. May the Lord alone be glorified.

A Exhortation On Prayer

Image
This clip was taken from the sermon I gave to the saints at Batia, Bulacan on August 26th, 2018. My burden for the church is for it to be grounded and rooted in the Word of God and in persevering, consistent and unceasing prayer.

A Short Exhortation on John 15

This is a shot exhortation delivered in Tagalog to the beloved saints on the 12th of August, 2018, at Batia, Bulacan. English Subtitles available.

Matthew 26:21-22

I have again been given a great privilege to speak to the church at Batia, Bulacan and expound more clearly on the events going back to when the prophet Isaiah told of a coming time when the blind will see, the deaf will hear, the lame will leap as a hart, and the mute will sing out for joy when the promised Messiah comes (Isaiah 35:5-6) - leading up to the events that transpired when the Lord Jesus came to fulfill these and more, and how it all eventually led to his death. I did what I can according to the grace measured unto me, (I am not a fluent speaker and I do stammer, I don't know how pastors do it), and there are some major points that I was not able to communicate for lack of time, such as the start of the second phase of the investigation after the event with the man with palsy, and why the Lord began speaking in parables after being accused of invoking Beelzebub in his healing, etc. But the main gist is there. There is an exhortation at the third part for continuance...
