The Lepers Who Found Treasure

Image
And when these lepers came to the edge of the camp, they went into a tent and ate and drank, and they carried off silver and gold and clothing and went and hid them. Then they came back and entered another tent and carried off things from it and went and hid them. Then they said to one another, “We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news. If we are silent and wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come; let us go and tell the king's household.” 2 Kings 7:8-9  "At first, the lepers' self-centered disregard for other people was terrible. They cram themselves with food while storing as much spoil as they can. At least in the middle of it all they realized their mistake. Even more concerning is the fact that their actions reflect that of many Christians who reap the rewards of salvation but never spread the gospel to people around them who are in desperate need of the truth. May the Lord help all believers understand their resp...

I Met A Soldier Of The LORD

Image
I was beaming with gladness and my heart ablaze once again after the LORD led me to find this brother who preaches the glorious gospel in public with his son in the Andes,Peru. Such conviction is aroused by speaking plain truth of the great need of our times. May the LORD advance His kingdom among the people in this place and call them home through this dear brother's labors. Even in the beginning of the LORD's work here in our place we have been praying for the unnamed and unknown missionaries who have left their lives behind to labor in places where Christ has yet to be named. May the LORD answer their prayers. May He give their families comfort. If they are in peril, may the LORD hold their faith and see them through to the end. Oh, what sweet gladness for me to hear these faithful soldiers praise God as they see the face of Christ in the end smiling at them. Ushering them into His eternal promise and rest where they will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. I am granted ...

God's Reserves

Image
Pat, as he is simply called, is a servant of the Lord with a passion for the proclamation of Christ. I had the honor of meeting him and his beloved wife Sarah during the rebellion march at University of the Philippines last Saturday. This meeting has been long overdue. God is gracious indeed.  I have been with a handful of  men in the past who for a time preached Christ in public but went back to comfort and silence. They did not continue or persevere in it. It was just a phase. Perhaps the reason they did it was because it was a "Christian" thing to do and there were others to do it with. However, true calling is demonstrated when men follow through even when others have abandoned you. I have lost count the number of messages I've received along the lines of, 'I want to preach with you.' or 'do you have Facebook so I can follow because I want to preach?' Even, 'I have a burden to preach. Do you give instructions?'  The question is not, do I h...

Dumaguete - Ending

Image
We visited a dear brother in Quezon City on our way home who has been going through a difficult chapter in his life. He’s been struggling with severe back pain for months—pain that’s made even the simplest movements excruciating. On top of that, he’s now facing the possibility of losing his job because he can no longer keep up with its demands. Photo by K The visit wasn’t long, but it gave us the opportunity to share a meal as a family at a nearby ramen house. We didn’t talk much about work or the pain. I honestly zonked out at the table from the travel, having barely gotten three hours of sleep the night before. However, we concluded our time with exhortation for the brother to bear his cross, and prayer for the Lord's will in his sanctification.  It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. Psalm 119:71   Matthew Henry writes: That it has been the advantage of God's people to be afflicted. David could speak experimentally: It was good f...

Revisiting Grace Plant Santa Maria

Image
Last Lord's day after finishing with our worship service we headed out again to Grace Plant Santa Maria Reformed Baptist Church, after pastor Reuben graciously invited us to their in-house service prior to their flight back to the UK. Lord permitting he will be back next month to continue with the work. It is always precious to be around people who love to talk about Christ. Brother Reuben is such a man. With regards to the general state of Christendom here in Bulacan, the city itself being huge, it is also an open door that is perfect for the planting of the gospel. Sadly public preaching here locally is a trivial church activity. A tedious chore no average professing church-goer will undertake - unless either the church is going, or they are asked to. It is not something the nominal attendee will have a burning passion for. The darkness prevails because the gospel is mostly kept within closed walls. The gospel is not preached to the people because the pastors do not believe it to...

Raining Down Graces

Image
The LORD fans the smoking flax aflame once again. Such encouragements couldn't have come at better times. I have many of these glorious helps from Father. You sow a seed and leave it there, you pass by the next year, a tree has grown. I have many times thought of taking down my social media accounts because of the difficulty in keeping up their maintenance them for want of time. I should not think of fruit in terms of human capacity but of fruit in terms of God's sovereign grace and providence. And he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how. The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. Mark 4:26-28 I have been graciously accepted at VPSM, an answer to prayer all by itself. Father has continuously blessed my desire to be equipped for the kingdom's use. Since we began 3 years ago I have always sought to be unde...

Grace Plant Santa Maria

Image
I honestly know little of the ministry of this blessed missionary couple, but I know the gospel enough to recognize it preached biblically. Last Sunday was their 2nd official service since starting as bible studies. And we are well pleased to ride out and support them in fellowship. I bless the LORD for brother Warren's Facebook post. Bulacan is a place ripe for the gospel. Praise God for sending more laborers here who have a heart for Christ and people. Perhaps I would be writing more about them in the days to come. May the LORD prosper His Word in Bulacan through their lives and the church. Grace Plant Santa Maria is a reformed baptist church, led by brother Reuben Saywell and his lovely wife Cathy.

Exhortation For Brethren

Image
An exhortation to undertake the impossible task of understanding the love of God for us, His redemption, and the power that His life gives.    May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward for His suffering.

Evening Fellowship

Image
The LORD hath given me a great privilege to exhort the brethren in a short message exalting the simplicity of Christ's person, being invited 31 kilometers one way to an informal gathering at dear brother Warren's blessed home along with his beloved wife Angel and a few of the close friends of Puritan Project Philippines. I was honored to have met these souls tonight. At a time when God seems to withdraw His presence, I look only to His faithfulness, not to my limited understanding. My mind unmoved upon Christ's redemptive work despite man's censorious idiocy. God was mindful to send me the comfort I much needed in fellowship with fellow-lovers of the LORD void of obligations, united only by Christ's truth and burden, and not by rules. I am beginning to see a much clearer picture of what "Christianity professed" today: humanism hiding behind a facade of piety. What used to be the shining gems and jewels of Christ's regenerative work now deliberately ove...

Puritan Project Philippines

Image
PPP is the serving ministry of this kind and dear couple, Warren and Angel, whom I have been privileged to meet and know. Half of what I have received in my library came from them. Their vision is to serve the body of Christ by making hard to find books available at a very low price. Here they are at their book table at the previous conference held at Makati. Much of the work of studying Christ is understood to be "the pastor's job". In prominent churches people find it tedious to carry their bibles to church, much less read it, and even less study it. The business of selling books here is a profitable venture, but it depends largely on the subject. Fictional stories rank highest, religious books maybe at the middle, but the farther you go from the norm, the more difficult it is to sell. The subject of Puritanism is almost unheard of here, its value unrecognized. The prospect of selling it, specialized. Yet God still has mercy to make these treasures available to "th...

Fresh Supplies

Image
Since the early days of this small ministry, Father has faithfully provided for His work without fail. We have been waiting for months for an answer for provisions for new tracts and bibles and He has finally delivered.  Help came in from two of our fellow saints and dear children from Taiwan, Wilma and Mark , both dear children and spiritual offspring of our brother Blaine and sister Ingrid , (Mark's dear wife, Vea, traveled the distance from Pangasinan and fetching the stash of bibles from Baguio to bring it here to Bulacan) - and from our beloved brethren in Christian Word Center in Cavite City, headed by the Lord's faithful pastor, L.A. Cruz , who in behalf of the church sent us a box of new bibles to give away. His church hosts a weekly feeding and gospel ministry to a great number of poor people held inside a cemetery, and goes out to proclaim the gospel to the masses in the parks. And now they have looked graciously upon us for the help we need. Truly, a fellowship wor...

New Bibles

Image
The dear wife of a precious son and brother in Taiwan visited us to fellowship and join us this Sunday all the way from Pangasinan (140 kms). Along with her came these pleasant gifts from the LORD. We have been waiting to acquire these for quite a long while now since stocks of our previous bible titles have gone out of print. This particular version costs twice, but the LORD has always provided for the work and continues to do so. Hopefully we can purchase these regularly from the current source from now on.

Visiting Friends

Image
We were graced with a visit from our dear sisters from our old congregation who not only brought me a cake commemorating Father's day, but they also took part in our meal gathering after services. It was a joyful afternoon gathering.

Gifts To The Church

Image
Father continues to provide for His work. This time by sending help from overseas. God used a brother in the United States to provide the little lambs with new bibles. Since they are new to the faith, they were using whatever they had at home. But now these new accountabilities. May the LORD use these to cause them to be fruitful and glorify. My own bible has had its share of battles. After 13 years of use it was time I acquired my own Tagalog version. The King James is still my go to text. But having a translation in my native language opens up the scriptures in a new light, provided I compare its context with the KJV and two concordance, with which I use Strong's and Vine's.

The Treasure In God's Bruising

Image
The bruised reed is a man that for the most part is in some misery, as those were that came to Christ for help, and by misery he is brought to see sin as the cause of it, for, whatever pretences sin makes, they come to an end when we are bruised and broken. He is sensible of sin and misery, even unto bruising; and, seeing no help in himself, is carried with restless desire to have supply from another, with some hope, which a little raises him out of himself to Christ, though he dare not claim any present interest of mercy. This spark of hope being opposed by doubtings and fears rising from corruption makes him as smoking flax; so that both these together, a bruised reed and smoking flax, make up the state of a poor distressed man. This is such an one as our Saviour Christ terms `poor in spirit' (Matt. 5:3), who sees his wants, and also sees himself indebted to divine justice. He has no means of supply from himself or the creature, and thereupon mourns, and, upon some hope of mercy ...

Friend

Image
Gil is one friend among the very few I have. And when I say few, I really mean fewer than few. He is known among veteran bikers in the local motorcycle community, and has been riding big bikes when I was probably still in grade school. Now at 66 years of age, doing 140 on the freeway is a stroll for him. When the circle of friends we were riding with eventually formalized itself into a club and I was opposed, he shared my sentiments against it. When I closed my welding shop in ParaƱaque and moved to Bulacan, that was our last contact. He has been in my prayers ever since the LORD found me. Time and again, I would be reminded to visit him and share the gospel, but I always had an excuse. I cannot help but think I had a fault in this and was to blame, that he had to be hurt before I would go to show my concern for his soul. This last week while fixing his bike alone in his home,  his hand got caught inside the gears, trapping his index finger. For over an hour he tried to free himse...

Our Printer

Image
The LORD sent funds through the generosity of two brethren for our recently depleted supply. We never tell anyone of our need, my God has always been faithful, not by happenstance - but specifically. Along with the work I do to support the ministry, Father has gifted us with an extremely accommodating printer for our tracts. We have been doing business with them since we started 2017 and are pleased with their service that it is only proper to return the favor. This particular fresh stash has 200 free pieces as a compliment. If you are local, and you ever need a printer, give Dynaspan Printing a call at +639163866337. They are over at Las PiƱas.

Katotohanan

A short preaching of brethren from DasmariƱas, Cavite. May the LORD raise up more unrelenting and fiery preachers in these last days.

More Than I Asked

Image
Today's errand took me back to Santa Maria. To the drugstore first, and to pay for a near deadline electric bill after. Before leaving I laid face down before God, asking Him for the opportunity to talk with a soul today for His name's sake. God delivered more than what I have asked. I greeted J***** and returned his vibrant smile when he saw me. His enthusiasm was obvious as he only excused himself once in a while when someone came to park or leave. The LORD enabled me to explain in simple words, using stories he can relate to as examples, the whole of his offenses against the law, to which later he admitted: everyone has indeed sinned and is incapable of meriting God's favor, much less His forgiveness. The more he saw the gravity of the law, the more he understood the grace it took for God to give His Son. In Islam, Allah has no son. So, telling him how Jesus was God's Son and Christ was a gentle lesson on compassion and sensitivity. It was a blessed hour-long convers...

Encouraging Encounters

Image
God has graced me with precious brethren in my walk that has been for me, both instrumental  and inspirational. The following text was posted in Facebook by my friend and brother, Pastor Derek. I thought I'd share it here to exhort the saints in laboring further for the kingdom one way or another. Despite the strict lockdown in their part of the metro, he has been faithfully visiting the market daily for over a month now to distribute tracts and preach the gospel. Here is one recorded account. May you be encouraged. Glory to God alone.  BEING A "SPIRITUAL FRONTLINER" IN THE MIDST OF THE COVID CRISIS. Greetings, friends and supporters! As many of you know, from my previous post on April 7, our area here in the Philippines was placed on "Enhanced Community Quarantine" beginning on March 17 until May 15. Under the "enhanced quarantine" great restrictions were placed on everyone. Yet, people were legally allowed to go out to the market and store to buy fo...
