Study Tools

I would again like to extend my gratitude to dear brother Jeff Chavez for pointing me towards studying the original languages. I have come to love them because of his labor and kindness. May the grace of the L ORD keep you. Step Bible This free tool, among many others I have been using, hath served me exceedingly well for some months now, and I give thanks unto God for His kindness in providing such gifts unto His church through the labor of faithful men. We often enjoy these benefits so readily that we forget they are the fruit of countless hours of study, diligence, and devotion undertaken by those whom the Lord hath equipped for such work. For many years I was content merely to read the Scriptures in English, and indeed God greatly blessed even that. Yet there hath been a peculiar richness in returning to the sacred text through its original languages. In doing so, many truths have appeared with greater clarity and beauty, as though familiar passages long viewed through a window w...

Biblical Womanhood Channel on telegram

Image
T his age suffers from an erosion of values brought about by fast-changing times and, more grievously, a generation that does not know God. There was a time when womanhood was defined by a fear of the Lord; yet that definition has since almost died out as focus shifted toward the superficialities of mere religion and outward morality. Virtue and holiness—the very foundations of character that are so often absent in our reality—are now sought after in every facet of society other than the Scriptures. The Biblical Womanhood channel is a mother's burden to call the remnant of the flock not to be conformed to the wiles of this world but to return to the old paths. It is an invitation to leave the empty husks of modern thought and return to the life-giving Bread of the Word. We hope to see you there as we seek the good way together. Graduation

Image
The close of the week saw a proper bout of illness amongst our group. It seemed the Lord's better judgment to afflict our bodies, and my voice was taken away for a few days. Thus, the street meetings—which we had hoped would bear such good fruit—had to be moved once more. It is peculiar how simple things were when we kept to our indoor meetings; we hardly missed a gathering for simple interference. But now, taking the Word to the public, it is constant. If our health does not fail us, the rain pours. The path to public duty seems ever paved with resistance, be it from the body or the weather. These petty ailments and sudden showers, are but pebbles in the path, mere obstacles we simply step over in the grand march of faith. Why should we fret over a missed meeting or a change in our schedule? It is true that our L ORD is seated on the throne, ruling over all the earth and all its concerns. Our salvation does not rest upon the success of our earthly itinerary, whether we meet or wh...

Second Meeting

Image
I testify that each public pleading proves fruitful, most especially for this old soul whose earthly light now draws quite near to its close. Though this poor body may have been wasted away by years and ailments, the Lord has, in His tender kindness, gifted me with a simple, child-like understanding of His precious truths. It is always a profound and singular joy to recommend the boundless mercies of Christ to an ear that is made ready by the Spirit. And I have found that to include the beginnings of redemptive history—to show how God's plan unfolds from Eden to Calvary—is quite a tremendous help in framing the Gospel aright, giving the hearer a firm foundation upon which to stand. I thank God that He permits me to labor even until the evening of my days.

He Cares For His Sheep

Image
Last week, following a decision made in humility, we secured the service of a good lady to assist with the cleansing of our shop and our household, which, by a gracious and special providence, did immediately lead to my own queen sharing the precious light of the Gospel with her. We learned with heavy hearts the distress of her domestic circumstances. She dwells with her husband in a meager unit within the neighboring village, sharing the roof not only with her aged parents, but with five other souls—nine individuals are thus confined within a house clearly fit for only two. And yet, the burden upon this small dwelling is further compounded! For the tenth occupant is a young woman of but twenty-one years, who resides there as the lesbian lover of the lady's own daughter, a girl still but fifteen years of age. This grievous moral trespass, resting upon the heavy affliction of their poverty, adds profoundly to the load. Truly, the darkness of this world presses heavily upon the do...

Be Thou My Vision

Image
As the daily worship of God has become the primary point of our small gathering, more than the weekly gathering, so the need to properly align ourselves with scriptural truths becomes primary. God has given us His very own prescriptions on how to worship Him and enjoy ourselves in rendering it; this book aims to compile portions of them. "Every Christian knows the importance of a daily quiet time with the Lord. But anyone who’s been a believer long enough has likely experienced seasons that feel more mundane or routine, leading to aimlessly skimming a couple of Bible verses or praying the same prayer over and over." "In Be Thou My Vision, Jonathan Gibson has created a 31-day liturgical guide designed to provide structure to the daily worship of individuals and families. Each daily reading includes a call to worship, adoration, confession, assurance, creed and catechism, the Gloria Patri, a prayer of illumination, Bible reading, intercessory prayer, and the Lord’s Prayer....

Greek And Hebrew

Image
I have commenced my studies in the languages and it has opened deeper insight into the meaning of the texts. English is such a poor language it is almost ridiculous to argue about context using it. The practice is to read a whole chapter each day in both Hebrew and Greek. I give this about 3 to 6 years of consistent practice before achieving proficiency. Here is a list of the applications I use: Ginoskos (paid Php989) Hebrew Bible Reader (free) Daily Greek (free) Blue Letter Bible (free) Tanakh (Fluent) (free) Greek New Testament (free) DuoLingo - (for Hebrew letters) (free)

2nd Chapter

Image
The youth were already waiting for us as we made our way to our beautiful place in the fields. Walking a good distance to gather with God's children once again refreshed me. This is our 30th humble fellowship, and the 6th on our extensive study on the letter to the Hebrews. I have many times proven myself wrong in measuring the message to be quite brief by my estimation, but God by His immeasurable grace never fails to give us more than what we think we need to hear. This day's particular topic seemed for me worthy to be skipped, but as the Spirit unfolded His word the more it left me in awe, dread, and an elevated sense of wonderful hope. Awe in realizing man lost more than his intimacy with God when he fell into sin, he also lost his authority over all creation. Dread in that Satan tempted the woman particularly to steal and usurp that God-ordained authority away from man, thus becoming the ruler of this world. Hope because my Savior is the very One who will restore man to hi...

The Supremacy of Christ

Image
We launch into an extensive series study on the letter to the Hebrews. This endeavor might take us 6 months or so to complete but already session 1 and 2 has yielded a vast treasure trove of knowledge for me, the LORD further expanding my horizons in awe of Him. I cannot get over, and thoroughly enjoyed reflecting on the fact that Jesus, after finishing the work on the cross, sat down. ..when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. Hebrews 1:3 It struck me to realize there were no seats for the priests who offered sacrifices day in day out in the tabernacle in the wilderness. That was because there was a continuous need to sacrifice daily, first, for the personal sins of each individual priest (7:27) and only then can they sacrifice for each citizen who brought in a sin offering. The sheer work and number of cattle to be sacrificed every single day seemed endless, as the commission of sin was endless, hence they had no time to rest and s...

Conviction

Image
Because in much wisdom is much grief, and increase of knowledge is increase of sorrow. Ecclesiastes 1:18  It was needful by the grace of God to hold two gatherings this afternoon. One special message for the sheep, and one presentation of the law and the gospel for the people we are courting in behalf of the LORD. Breaking of bread every week has also taken on a new meaning, for me at least, to help remind us of why we believe what we believe.

A Good Start

Image
This young man started writing me several months ago, and after an exchange of letters where I recommended several churches nearer to him, he started attending our public outreaches. He lives 46 kilometers away in Pasig City. For someone to travel that far from where we are just to join us says a lot about finding treasure that is worth making the trip. I can surely relate to this. Being a new babe in the faith, he had a passion to preach about Christ. But upon joining our evening bible classes, his zeal slowly shifted to a realization of an even greater pursuit: that of knowing Christ.  He started commuting all the way from where he lived, to Bulacan. Leaving as early as 6AM to join our 8AM worship services. Every week for more than a month now. And to finally affirm his sincerity, without even telling me, he quietly searched for a place near us, and one day made the move to transfer all he had from Pasig, to live here. He is now one short ride away. Each morning, I wake up to inq...

The Invisible Listener

Image
I was pleasantly interrupted this last Thursday afternoon as I was doing my reading at our barn door, by a neighboring mother who called my attention, asking me about having to attend church again. She has started to attend the services at the end of 2019, just after the chapel was built, but due to the insistence of her husband to cease from such she has since stopped. I will tell of her background briefly, without going into specifics, only that on this particular day, she was recommended by her parole officer to attend a Christian church anywhere near her as part of her probation program. She immediately thought of us.  Come evening, we enjoy quietness in our area, and it had crossed my mind that my voice could probably be heard from the outside as we did our study. And so I deliberately raise my voice more than usual in the hopes that our neighbors might hear. This mother had indeed by God's providence been listening in, over our wall, on our evening bible classes. Being c...

First Fruits

Image
Neil sent me this picture of his own tract he personally printed. He once travelled all the way from Pasig City just to labor with us for the first time in Novaliches, and has since joined us in our public proclamations, eventually coming home with us on a whim to attend weekend worship with the saints here. Father has blessed me with young souls who are passionate for Him (may it please the LORD to uphold their desire for the work). The LORD graciously held back the burning in his heart to immediately go out and share the gospel, and directed it to an even greater and more wonderful pursuit, that of knowing Christ. Through our evening classes, God opened his eyes to the majestic beauty of God's Son, and the powerful work of the cross. Of the eternal plan set forth from before the foundation of the world, onto the great day of judgement. Growing in the knowledge of Christ, properly equips the eager soul whom He calls into the vineyard. Our personal family ministry started with the...

The Surety of Judgement

Image
Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment. Ecclesiastes 11:9

The 70th

Image
We have an appalling tendency to lose ourselves with work. Not that it is something new for me, but I have had such an experience these past months. I never expected that my load would more than double when I stepped down from the corporate world, mistakingly thinking that family life and ministry will be easier. Nothing could be farther from the truth. There were recent negative circumstances that somehow worked out for good, as it  "forced" me into reopening our family devotion. Father has been continually stretching out new horizons for me. First, no family should be without a devotional life. Back in the days when families took Christianity seriously, devotions came right after dinner. The dishes were set aside for washing, and the father of the house took his rightful place as priest and pastor, teaching scripture to the entire household. And after this and the dishes, the mother would in turn tuck the children in their beds, and spend another hour teaching them further ...

By The Grace of God

Image
The LORD was pleased to bless us for the last two months in our recently concluded study on the subject of salvation, with an extra week review of our previous topics on its eight major doctrines. The open and interactive class is an hour's worth of daily discussions in the evenings. Five souls have been added under our care online. May the LORD count me faithful to endure for His name's sake and for His saints.         We have begun a new study in discovering the true biblical gospel. This study is lifted in part from the HeartCry Missionary Society's workbook, wherein it centers on the revelation of the fullness of God as the divine purpose for everything that is. It is crucial for the serious believer to know who he is before God, who God is as He has revealed Himself in sacred scripture, what God has done for him through the cross of Christ, and how God is accomplishing His will in the believer's sanctification by the power of His Spirit. It is evident bo...

Studies on the Eight Major Doctrines of Salvation

Image
Continuing our analysis of each important doctrine as we push for further understanding the work of God in our salvation, who Christ is and what He did, and how His Spirit progressively sanctifies us towards that final day. God be praised. We are redeeming the time as our brethren in other countries, where Christian persecution is increasingly becoming the norm, continue to fall under the shadow of the enemy, but our response to this looming darkness is to know God more that we may rest our minds in Christ when our time to stand comes.
