Walking Unaware

A short reading on the book of Luke. Chapter 2. Verses 44  and 45. But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. Podcast episode 4. All glory to God alone.

John Rogers

Image
John Rogers (c. 1505 – 4 February 1555) was an English clergyman, Bible translator and commentator. He guided the development of the Matthew Bible in vernacular English during the reign of Henry VIII and was the first English Protestant martyr under Mary I of England, who was determined to restore Roman Catholicism. The following is taken from Foxe's Book of Martyrs. Chapter 16. John Rogers was educated at Cambridge, and was afterward many years chaplain to the merchant adventurers at Antwerp in Brabant. Here he met with the celebrated martyr William Tyndale, and Miles Coverdale, both voluntary exiles from their country for their aversion to popish superstition and idolatry. They were the instruments of his conversion; and he united with them in that translation of the Bible into English, entitled "The Translation of Thomas Matthew." From the Scriptures he knew that unlawful vows may be lawfully broken; hence he married, and removed to Wittenberg in Saxony, for the impr

Public Pleading. Fortune market, Marilao.

Journal Entry. 20th of June, 2020. My steady growing disdain for Facebook came to such a high last week that I once again decided to deactivate it. I have long been wanting to cut off this particular platform and focus instead on Fairsunshine, but my status as admin of our lineage's group held me. Currently, I found another to look after the page, so I will see how long I can hold off logging in before I finally delete the account forever. I learn nothing new from the posts which seem to repeat itself over and over again, it is fast becoming a sort of theological source for most, and a haven for attention seekers and opinionated boastings. Ultimately for me, it is painful to see brethren who should have been lights in the world, being shallow with the world for all to see. A biblical post has almost no weight against a post about something so trivial as an updated profile picture. It is both strange and not, that my unbelieving contacts are the ones who notice my absence, and encou

Return To Marilao

The scheduled Tuesday outreach was moved a day later to accommodate a brother who wanted to join us in public proclamation. And it was for our good. How refreshing it is to hear the gospel spoken by another. It is always pleasant when brethren dwell together in unity (Psalms 133:1) . Jhet was recently enabled by the Spirit to understand the doctrines of grace. He and Jordan started in the same ministry years ago, however steeped in doctrinal error. And when it pleased God to open Jordan's understanding to His sovereignty, Jhet became his opposition. But now he also has been enabled to understand the truth about God's person, and if He is willing, we will labor in the LORD's vineyard together from hereon.       The tricycle drivers and vendors comprised our audience today. Not only were they attentive, but they welcomed the tracts cheerfully, and came back to ask for their co-workers as well. My stash was gone even before it was my turn to speak, and the few bibles th

Our Prayers Realized

Image
We have been enabled to make use of technology to bring the truth of scripture and the saving gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord to an expanding audience. Podcasts are a new thing for me, and my experience in the field of visual effects has been of great help to funnel all my skill and resources towards the furtherance of the gospel. In my initial research I had the impression that we needed at least $20 a month to produce just short segments, and for a while the plan was put on hold. But God has sent me such an answer, that not only required no money, but also gave us an hour's worth of recording. We were also spared much technical difficulties in distributing the podcasts to different platforms, because our carrier - Anchor - did everything for us. They are worth mentioning here. Our channel is available on these platforms. Spotify. Anchor. Breaker. Google Podcasts. RadioPublic. Pocket Casts. Overcast. Castro. And Apple Podcasts.

My Second Ministry Bears Fruit

Image
One of the rare highlights of my life is to personally witness these trees that I have been tending to under the grace of God for so long, bring forth its fruit in its season. The children have gathered on their own steadily in this time of quarantine, apart from our reminding them. And whatever evil intent may the perpetrators have in the implementation of this worldwide lockdown, God has brought about for good: one such good is that it has given my family unrestrained time together, such as we have never had in times common. Moreso the Spirit was pleased to have descended upon the children. Perhaps this is Father's way to sharpen our resolve to stand in the LORD against the trying time to come should death be required of us. May the LORD so lead us to the altar of His sacrifice.  God has blessed my soul in this mine legacy, it is sure in the hands of my God, and the love He has placed in me for them, extends further to the fruit of these that will be born after them. A good man l

A Tale of Two Lines

Image
The crowd was a bit thin this morning, so instead of standing in a corner I thought I would walk around to where people were and give out my remaining tracts.  This is the second line I encountered after walking two blocks. Crossing the street to where the people were waiting to enter a grocery, I offered each one a tract, beginning at the front of the line. He declined and waved me off. I offered it to the lady next to him. She waved me off. The third man ignored me. The fourth said no. The fifth opened his phone. And so on. I blessed them and walked towards another street. I need to go back to the first line I saw, but passed by.  The first line I saw was at the utilities office. It was long and busy. I had already given to a few on my way here when I saw the potential audience I was hoping for, amd yet I sheepishly walked on. I felt pathetic as a surge of shame overcame me. The Spirit was strongly convicting me to turn back, but my feet seem to have a mind of their own and kept walk

Podcast Pilot Episode

The LORD is good. His mercy endures forever.  This initial podcast release has been in my heart for quite some time now, and after much reflection regarding the motive, researching about the medium, testing makeshift equipment, and asking for the proper subject to minister to the saints, God has graciously bestowed upon us this humble start. The sole aim of this endeavor is that the glory Christ's name be made known to all. As always we opted to ask no commercial sponsorship, but that God would move people to support the cause, not us.  Our first subject in this three part series is about some of the tragedies all of us encounter at some point in our lives, and that even in situations where seemingly insurmountable troubles drive us into desperation, God's hand is there. God is still good and unchanging.  The podcast is in Tagalog, our native tongue, and is geared towards the Filipino listener. If you so happen to listen, and would like to suggest or critique on how we can impr

Six Short Rules For Young Christians

Image
These six short rules for young Christians come to us from the pen of Brownlow North, an evangelist, preacher, and writer who lived from 1810–1865. While these helpful habits are addressed to the young believer, it is clear that they ought to be embraced by all Christians. Never neglect daily private prayer; and when you pray, remember that God is present, and that He hears your prayers. (Heb. 11:6). Never neglect daily private Bible reading; and when you read remember that God is speaking to you, and that you are to believe and act upon what He says. I believe all backsliding begins with the neglect of these two rules. (John 5:39). Never let a day pass without trying to do something for Jesus. Every night reflect on what Jesus has done for you, and then ask yourself, "What am I doing for Him"? (Matt. 5: 13-16) If you are in doubt as to a thing being right or wrong, go to your room and kneel down and ask God's blessing on it. (Col. 3:17). If you cannot do this, it is wron

Hand On The Plow

I was asking the LORD for a reward for what I was about to do today. Something I believe without a doubt that He will take pleasure in giving me. Five souls. Five souls that I need not see, but that I was willing to wait till the great day when all will be revealed to see who these five souls were. Five souls that the LORD would call to Himself today. I have never gone out expecting anything from the LORD except for an occasional plea for a little encouragement. But I have resolved to be bold from now on. To ask great things for His name's sake, and for my joy. I was not going out just to plead with people in behalf of God, today I will be pleading with the LORD in behalf of them. I believe it is a sin of unbelief not to ask or expect great things from God, as much as it is sin to ask presumptuously. And I know my Father delights in giving good things to His children, especially when it is according to His good will. Things do not always start out well on days that I go out for min
