When Silence Speaks

 Journal Entry. 5.34AM. 8th of September, 2023.

The world speaks its hatred of God-through violence and rebellion. Man says in his heart, “There is no God. I will live for myself until I die. Leave me alone in my religion in peace.” Thus he rejects the rule of Christ and seeks only his own way.

But the nominal Christian may also speak a language of hatred-through silence. He says within himself, “I do well to remain silent even unto death. Leave me alone in my religion in peace.”

No Christian needs to say he hates the souls of men, his silence already speaks for it. Under this silence there hides the fear of man, an unwillingness to bear reproach for Christ openly, and an unbelief in what he professes to be true.

Like Jonah he is not only apathetic should judgment fall upon the people, he hates them so much he wants them to perish. So he merely attends a formal gathering, and deceives himself that he's done much for the advancement of God's kingdom for doing so. This is what a person who holds the truth but keeps it from those who haven't heard looks like.

A hateful professor of religion of the worst kind.

The Lord hath not called His people to believe in secret, but to bear witness unto the truth with humility and love. The Christian must neither rage like the world nor retreat into fearful silence, but speak faithfully of Christ with meekness and courage. For Christ's sake.
