You Will Never Run Out Of Things To Be Thankful For

Some of the things (we often forget) to be thankful for today.

The air you breathe.
Breathing tube patients will tell you.

One beat of your heart.
People on the donor waiting list will tell you.

You woke up this morning.
Somebody else didn't.

When you opened your eyes you can see.
People who lost their sight will tell you.

When you try to speak you have a voice.
Mute people will tell you.

When you swallow your food you enjoy its taste.
People who have to dig through trash to eat will tell you.

When you drink clean water it refreshes you.
People who live under the bridge will tell you.

You have painless bodily functions.
The old man who abused his body in his youth will tell you.

The roof you live under.
Homeless people will tell you.

Your spouse hugging you.
The man who lost his wife yesterday will tell you.

Your children walking through the door announcing they're home.
People whose children never came home will tell you.

The comfort you get when hugged by a loved one.
Burn victims will tell you.

The sound of a baby crying.
The mother who lost her baby will tell you.

Your work.
Jobless people will tell you.

Your money.
People who have to steal to feed their family will tell you.

Family time.
People who hold two jobs will tell you.

You have access to transportation.
People who walk home to and from work will tell you.

God giving you His only begotten Son.
People burning in hell will tell you.

God's promises.
Hopeless people with nothing to live for will tell you.

Contentment.
Bitter people will tell you.

Brethren.
People who can't trust others will tell you.

Contented people are the most thankful people.
Thankful people are always happy people. They always see the good in everything.

Discontented people are thankless people.
Thankless people are always bitter people. They will always find something else to complain about.

What if you looked at every "ordinary" gift through the eyes of someone who no longer has it? Maybe you will find that the things you have are not rare after all, just overlooked. While you do not have to pretend everything is wonderful, you can start by looking at what has been quietly sustaining you all along. The things you should be thankful for will always outnumber the things you think you lack.

As Death and Destruction are never satisfied, so the eyes of a person are never satisfied.
Proverbs 27:20
