Tondo Ministry

Image
It was a very long ride under the scorching heat going to Tondo, Manila, where we met up with the small group of mothers who are part of the ministry of two of our very own mothers in Bulacan. Our dear pastor brother Jordan served them with a proper presentation of the gospel, and a study on the attributes of God. Accompanying us today was our brother Jhet, and two of our youth servants. I was working through the night to meet my deadline today in time for submission so I can join the brothers in serving, but I helplessly dozed off around 6AM only to be awakened again by 9AM. God graciously gave me a steady hand all through the long ride. I felt a bit dizzy early on the drive but my head cleared midway. The study began 1PM and ended an hour later, after which we immediately rode back. We arrived home safely by 7PM, just in time for the rains to fall.

John 9:4  I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

I was greatly encouraged by my brother's zeal for the LORD that I offered to assist him in his preaching the very next morning after our preaching at Guiguinto the previous night. By the LORD's providence, people stood near and far to listen to the gospel. Government soldiers were there and were visibly drawn to hear as well as enforcers who were presently supervising the people. We were rewarded with a short but sweet fellowship over a quick meal before heading home.

An angry man claiming to be a pastor did not like the way we were preaching against sin, and berated us to stay with just grace, stating that Christ did not preach that way. I asked him what Christ meant when He told the people to repent. I thought to myself, children should not be permitted to hold pastoral positions. Prayer is the very backbone of anointed preaching. A day at a time but each day for the LORD.

After Pandi, we drove off to another place further up north to Bunsuran, a busy market place that leads to Plaridel. Another hour and a half of presenting the gospel and a personal talk with a vendor and we call it a day for the LORD.

The LORD led us to an unusual place in our map. One that we would not choose for ourselves. A random stop in our drive to search out a place for the gospel. It always starts out as a place that we expected no crowds but once we start God brings the people to us. The workers minding a construction site permitted us to use the stairs for our platform, and some kind drivers gave us watered bottles. The LORD continues to direct His preaching to specific souls He stirs to listen to the entirety of the message, as far us the wind can carry our voices. This is our first stop this day.

Continuing our ministry to the Muslim community. The youths from our church have started to accompany us. God has opened doors for frequent person to person encounters.  May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward for His suffering.

Who Is Christ To You?

Image
I love speaking to young people. I have a great desire to shield and protect them from the corruption that seeks to influence them. As I was tasked to deliver a message to the youth gathering the nest day Saturday, I spent the whole night before the LORD on the floor pleading for His grace and anointing  until morning, and even up to the time I stepped unto church in the afternoon, I received no word. But God never fails to deliver for His name's sake, and His servants' rejoicing.   This short excerpt is taken from that privilege speech I was honored to give to the youth in our community after watching Tortured For Christ , the movie. Take thy glory, LORD.

Return to GuiGuinto

We were enabled to return to this place this time with three of our passionate youths in church to "school" them in ministering to souls. We were denied by the enforcers at our previous location, and was told to move here instead in front of the market, which by God's wisdom placed us in an even better position. Markets and establishments have stalls and vendors who will get to hear the message in its entirety. This particular spot has that, a parking terminal, and a tricycle terminal.    After hearing a great part of the gospel, the people showed us no little kindness, and offered us free fruits, and allowed us to pray with them on the streets. This man is from the cult of Iglesia ni Cristo, and claims to be able to save himself at will and according to him has done so on numerous ocassions. He approached one of the youth not to inquire, but to bully and compare knowledge. When asked the simplest of questions about his logic, he cannot answer, and quickly left. Th...

Guiguinto was a part of Bulacan that was never in our intention to preach the gospel in. But the LORD brought us here to minister specifically to a few souls. He has noticeably opened unto us a door of interaction with the people, and talk with them on a personal level. One such soul is this ex-pastor who was bitter, for his own reasons I do not wish to speculate on, who approached and stood before brother Jordan as he preached the word. He went to me, staggering drunk, and immediately opened up that he was a pastor. He enumerated all his achievements in the ministry, and how he was wronged by another pastor and because of that was forced to step down from ministry. He was very bitter. God in His mercy, enabled me to take away his legs from under all his boasting, and reminded him of the Lord's merciful invitation to all who are weary, to come to Him for rest. Brother Jhet and Jordan also spoke with another religious minister (who was also drunk) , who made a trivial game of all sc...

Ministry To The Muslims Continued

Joshua heard the whole gospel from the time we started and after we were done. He asked us to talk with him about Christ anytime we return, and offered us free food since he was closing shop but we paid him for his business.

Hiding the Gospel

Image
I am running a tight deadline for a short work that the LORD sent my way, but be that as it may priorities should dictate choices. It is now Saturday evening, and sleep has been kept from me since Wednesday night. May the LORD who gives to His beloved even in his sleep, abundantly pardon for His name's sake.   Nanay Dita came near to us with a tract already in her hand while Jordan was pleading with the crowd, I went to the lady and asked her if she knew the LORD, and from there a lengthy conversation started. People generally have a wishful thought that although they are not quite sure if they will end up in heaven, hell is never an option. It is always somewhere in between the earth and the sky, and always dependent upon their good works. Sadly I thought this way in my previous life, if I cared at all. This is the typical response of the common folk: they are not sure, or they hope to find themselves in heaven somehow. This is why the gospel is the greatest need of any hour. The ...

Matthew Five : Fourty Six

Image
For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? Matthew 5:46 I believe we do the context of the command to go forth and make disciples a terrible wrong when we begin to chose the people we bring the gospel to. These few weeks of opportunity wherein the good LORD has opened unto us the hearts of the people in this Islamic portion of the town proper has humbled us for the great privilege He has granted us in enabling us to bring the light of the gospel here, and added a new burden for these souls. The people that we have been blessed to share the gospel with one on one both cause us joy and grief. Joy that we are beyond honored to bring the great news of reconciliation to them, and grief that we are speaking unto dead men, that unless the Father quickens their dead hearts in his mercy they can never understand. May the LORD send more laborers into His vineyard.

Not Always Sunshine

Image
We do not always have crowds, but we always have people. We do not always have sun, but rains keep the people still long enough to hear the gospel. There was a time when the usual line at our regular fishing hole was not there. The shops were about to close early, and we were walking down each street eager to find a decent number of people but it was near empty. So we decided to walk back and proclaim anyway, regardless. And soon enough God sent people to stop and talk with us. I have learned a new and valuable lesson: Not to see the situation as I perceive it, in vain because there were no people around, but to be faithful in the proclamation. God will see to it that there will be a sure ear to catch every pure and faithful preaching of His precious gospel. I have seen foreign street preachers stand on corners where there is hardly a soul nearby, but they take a stand anyway. We are blessed to have streets that, compared to foreign lands, are never ever empty of people. There is alway...
