Last Wednesday, one of our dogs was shot by an old tenant who lived some distance from our home. Barely making it back alive, he collapsed after my wife tried pulling him inside.
Going to the veterinarian was not an option. We had no money for it. We comforted our faithful beast as much as we could, and left the matter to God. But the next day, without asking for it, money came in specifically for the dog so by afternoon we were able to get a scan, and it showed what appeared to be an object lodged around the lung area. After taking two trips, we were finally told he has a 50/50 chance to die to the nature of the wound, and they cannot operate on him themselves, but presented instead to an even hopeless option: to go to a more expensive clinic, and undergo an operation that will cost between 35 and 50 thousand.
So we took our dog home, and we resigned our dog to the LORD, contented to wait till he expired. I was at peace with it all, and was confident in the LORD that it will not end like this. But God once again comforted us, even in this seemingly small thing.
That same afternoon and out of nowhere, a lady from a charity institution for stray animals reached out to us. They offered to shoulder all expenses of the operation. Cage service to the clinic in West Ave., Manila and back, and medicines, included. We did not need to pay a cent. I was pleasantly astounded at the LORD's overseeing care. He always has a better way, even over all we have. As He has proven to me countless times, there is no matter too small or trivial for His attention regarding. Whatever we ask for, including that which we did not ask, we receive. Even our beasts are blessed. And we always thank the LORD for them.
A motorcycle service from the clinic was immediately dispatched the
same hour from the city to where we were. This service was also free of
charge. We have no way of transporting an injured dog. Even this need
was provided for us. The people who handled our situation were very concerned and very professional. We couldn't have been in better hands.
It
took the good doctor 2 hours of chasing the object inside because it
was free floating. Whatever side the dog was lying, it floated to the
bottom side, making it impossible to get to. We can risk the dog dying
if we continue the operation, or stop and stitch him up and hope for the
best. His chance of surviving was far better. I opted not to remove the
pellet. Our pet stayed there for two days to recuperate, and was driven
back to us in a clean cage - by car. For free.
I
never expected this much attention and provision. It was truly amazing
to say the least. I was not even aware that there were people who did
this kind of thing. We donated half of what we received for the dog back
to the institute. It is the least we can do. The charity institute is
called
Strays Worth Saving
- they were used mightily to save our dog and spare us from huge
expenses - and loss. Check out their page and give them a follow. The
veterinary clinic In Manila is
VetLink. I am very honored to recommend them.
