Muñoz, Quezon City

For a long time, this spot has been on our mind. A great place to proclaim the good news of Christ. This was my midway point when I was in High School going home. It is where four major points of Quezon City and Caloocan City meet. From Congressional Avenue, Monumento, Roosevelt Avenue, and going south onwards. The four quarters of this intersection is packed with commuters and vendors, from early morning till late at night. We have often passed by EDSA heading north and looked with deep yearning at the thousands of people on this stretch starting from the far end of the Iglesia Ni Cristo church (a huge local cult) all the way to the turn.

Thursday is our date night. After grabbing a meal, and a short errand we headed to Roosevelt Avenue, Quezon City and parked at Waltermart on the opposite side and crossed to the other side. After asking permission from the traffic police, the person who oversaw the vehicle lines, and the guards at the establishment, we proceeded to plead.

half an hour into the work we were approached by another security guard and asked (politely) to move away from our spot, but since we were at a public sidewalk we told him (politely) that we won't be long (45 minutes) and we'll be going soon. We want to be able to proclaim to the crowd, but we also do not want the guards to blamed on our behalf, so we haggled for a bit of extension.

A woman whom we later saw in the video was listening in the distance. She stood far away and eventually approached us to ask for a bible. She browsed it quietly and asked us why it did not have the Old Testament. We deliberately give away only New Testaments to unbelievers. A whole bible is both heavy and overwhelming. We doubt they will ever read it on their own, except prompted by God of course, but it's a sure way to get our tracts, which contain the gospel, into their hands. A lighter book is easier to peruse, giving the recipient a chance to read the tracts. The woman turned out to be a Baptist believer. She encouraged us in the work and thanked us, as she listened to the preaching some more, before catching a passing bus. We pray she was also encouraged to do the same and let the light of Christ's gospel shine forth.

Towards the end of the message, the guard once again approached us, telling us to move further down away from the front of the building as their client was already annoyed. We finished our plea, and we complied. We thanked him for being patient with us.

God was moving in our favor, as the line increased till the people were standing right in front of us. No ride came for them the whole forty five minutes of the preaching. After we left, crossed the bridge to get the car, we turned back and passed by the same spot, and the line was already gone. I notice that this usually happens when I am pleading with a crowd in a line. It seems that God always delays the rides of the commuters till they got to hear the message, and as I leave then a bus or van will pull up. Wonderful display of God's timing and plan. Such is God's mercy.
