Family Worship

So keep these words deep in your heart and in your soul, and have them fixed on your hand for a sign and marked on your brow; Teaching them to your children, and talking of them when you are at rest in your house or walking by the way, when you go to sleep and when you get up: Writing them on the pillars of your houses and over the doors of your towns: So that your days, and the days of your children, may be long in the land which the Lord by his oath to your fathers said he would give them, like the days of the eternal heavens. For if you take care to keep all the orders which I give you, and to do them; loving the Lord your God and walking in all his ways and being true to him:
Deuteronomy 11:18-22 / 6:7-9

The gift of family worship, was given to us April of last year and has continued non-stop 7 days a week till this day. It also gave birth to the weekly prayer meeting in which the whole gathering participates, all thanks be to God for the great kindness He evidenced through the examples of praying brethren from Lubbock, Texas and Clovis, New Mexico.

By it, God showed much favor in the spiritual rooting of all the believers who have gathered with us every night since then. Doubts faded, hopes strengthened, love deepened, prayers changed, conversions verified, sights lifted to eternity, death for Christ and the gospel freely welcomed. It has made all the difference in the understanding and intensifying of each to yearn in secret prayer and live publicly for of Christ. It pleased the Lord to wash the believers with the word daily, tempering them with adversity, ridicule and need. The result is that Christ is real to them now more than ever.

And now these same souls who have tasted the goodness of the Lord in daily worship have taken the light of God's word straight to their homes and read it to their unbelieving families.

God has smiled upon us by laying the foundation of true worship, starting in the home and outward, for the our children and their children to come. This we have learned: the worship of God starts in the home. The blessing we have received in the worship of God, is God Himself.

For the promise is unto you, and your children..

As for me and my house we will worship the Lord

"When the Confession of Faith of the Westminster Assembly of Divines was adopted by the  Church of Scotland, it contained this provision, which is still valid among ourselves: "God is to  be worshiped everywhere in spirit and in truth; as in private families daily, and in secret each  one by himself (xxi:6). In conformity with these principles, the practice of family worship became universal throughout the Presbyterian body in Scotland, and among all the Dissenters in England. In Scotland especially, the humblest persons in the remotest cottages honored God  by daily praise; and nothing is more characteristic of the people at this day. "I have sometimes  seen family worship in great houses," says Mr. Hamilton, "but I have felt that God was quite as  near when I knelt with a praying family on the earthen floor of their cottage. I have known of  family worship among the reapers in a barn. It used to be common in the fishing boats upon the  firths and lakes of Scotland. I have heard of its being observed in the depths of a coal pit." The excellency of this picture is that it contains not a stroke of fiction. Such scenes are  presented week after week among the Scottish peasant. They are such as the Presbyterians of  America have known from the days of childhood. Nor were they alone in this unspeakable privilege. The fathers of New England, having drunk into the same spirit, left the same legacy to their sons."
