Back At The Front
This very afternoon, I was mercifully and powerfully enabled by the Holy Spirit to stand and plead with the poor souls confined within the bleak recesses of the great market in Santa Maria, Bulacan. As the message progressed, my voice naturally turned from simple preaching to earnest pleading, for my heart was utterly overwhelmed with anguish for these precious mortals, who dwell in manifest hopelessness and darkness, alienated from their God and tragically without a Saviour. It is painful also to comprehend that other base cults—whose primary business is merely to solicit funds from the unwary—do frequent this very area. This cruel, mercenary practice hath caused the common folk to disdain the true Gospel all the more, creating a wretched impression that all who stand to preach are only agents seeking money.
Therefore, we make it an absolute point of sober principle to remind the people never to give money to anyone preaching in the public streets. This simple, honest declaration doth always seem to break through their defense! When we make it a point to discourage them from giving, it instantly places us upon the same side of the fence, making them willing to lend an ear to what we have to say. It is this moment of honest trust that doth then open the only door for the Gospel to commence its saving work!
Blessed be the LORD! The Spirit arrested not a few souls with the power of the Word. I beheld blank faces staring into the air and heads bowed low in reflection. The atmosphere of the market remained raucous and loud, yet, from time to time, there was a noticeable and profound lowering of the usual noise, testifying to a momentary conviction in the heart of the throng. After a full hour of diligently courting them with the terrible consequences of willful rebellion against a holy God and the glorious offer of reconciliation through the cross of Christ, the crowd assembled before me thanked us with a spontaneous and heartfelt gratitude. O, that the LORD would be pleased to open a mighty door for us to take the true Church directly unto the people!
